Through the massive wooden gate, you enter the unique world of Chateau d'Uzer, surrounded by vineyards, olive, and chestnut trees, located in the Ardèche in France. In this ancient castle, the owners Eric and Véronique have created a magnificent boutique hotel with two double rooms and four family rooms. Stay in a peaceful oasis, and get away from it all.
The gorgeous vintage chic interior of the castle merges natural tones with rich colors and beautiful retro eye-catchers. The atmosphere is warm, luxurious and romantic. The generously sized rooms feature comfortable beds and furniture both of excellent quality.
Daily breakfast a real treat! On warm days, it is served on the terrace overlooking the park or in the cozy courtyard while in winter and on rainy days it can be taken in the vaulted dining room. Take all your time to enjoy local produce, fresh juices, eggs, crispy bread, warm croissants, homemade jams, fruit salad, cottage cheese, and pancakes.
Chateau d'Uzer can be visited in any season. With many unique rooms inside and majestic spots outside, your stay will be an extraordinary experience. In summer, you can relax at the south facing freshwater swimming pool (16 x 4.5m). Settle down on the sunbeds in the large lawn or sit in the shade of the flourishing magnolia, that stands next to the pool. On colder days, enjoy the winter garden or relax nearby the fireplace. The library is situated in the old chapel, where you find board games as well to use. The medieval church was converted into a cinema with old red velvet theater seats, where the kids can watch a movie while their parents calmly sit at the table for dinner prepared by Véronique. Furthermore, there is a fully equipped guest kitchen available.
Chateau d’Uzer is a paradise for young and old! Children can entertain themselves in the swimming pool or by playing table football. The older ones, can take a (free) yoga class or book a wellness massage. Stroll the large castle gardens, explore the surroundings by electric bike (for rent), paddle the river behind the hotel in a rowing boat or discover the beautiful hiking trails starting straight from the castle. Due to its spacious layout, it is a fantastic domain to relax and play in complete privacy.

After a scenic route along winding roads, past rising cliffs and glittering rivers dotted with pebble beaches, you arrive at this fairytale castle. Chateau d'Uzer stands in the medieval village of Uzer, in France. Originally, this castle was built to protect the near silver mines that were funding the Crusades. Today, the welcoming owners Eric and Véronique run this kid proof boutique hotel in the Ardèche.
The castle is open all year round, spring and summer are the best times to explore the stunning scenery of the Ardèche and to make full use of the pool. But winter should certainly not be underestimated; it is a wonderful season to stay in the castle and to enjoy the warm ambiance close to the crackling fire. The castle has any time of the year lots to offer: relax at the poolside, explore the ancient rose gardens, go boating on the river, book a massage, take a morning yoga class with Véronique, read a good book in the winter garden or play a family game. Visit the picturesque villages of Balazuc, Labeaume, and Aubenas by electric bike (for rent) or head out on the spectacular hiking trails that start straight from the castle.
Don’t miss Caverne du Pont d'Arc, home to an extraordinary collection of paintings and drawings reproduced from the nearby Chauvet Cave, which contains the best preserved prehistoric rock drawings in the world. The cave is open all year long.
Spend a day kayaking down the Ardèche gorges, through beautiful scenery and past gentle rapids. Véronique heartily prepares a picnic basket for your day out.
For adventurist guest, the owners - both aviation enthusiasts - love to arrange a paraglide or flights to see the beauty of the Ardèche from the sky.
Those that prefer to keep the feet on the ground can explore the colorful morning markets in the surrounding area.

It is a beautiful stylishly decorated location. Because of the small scale we came into contact with other families very easily. The breakfast was delicious and looked beautiful. Dinner is also highly recommended. Our stay at Chateau D'uzer felt very welcoming and comfortable. The rooms were very warm, but the temperatures were also very high for there. Perhaps good for you to know: (or I did not quite understand it) I thought that on the days that there was a dinner it was cooked for the children. Upon arrival it was the intention to cook for your own children and then to join the dinner. That is why on the day of arrival we did not arrange anything for the children and we were not in time for dinner.
It was a really beautiful place, with nice owners, enough privacy and opportunity to relax! We are happy to come again. Recommended.
