Hjemmebu is your home away from home, literally and figuratively. The lodge is therefore named after the Norwegian expression "feel at home" and welcomes guests to the highlands of Torpo, Norway, with a warm embrace. The typically Norwegian lodge is located amidst tranquility and offers breathtaking views of the mountains and two lakes. The lodge is tastefully decorated by the warm & hospitable owners Anke and Geert, who run a home furnishing store in Belgium. The interior is modern, but also very homely due to the atmospheric furnishings and lighting. All possible contemporary comfort is present for a pleasant and carefree stay!
Hjemmebu is spacious, inviting and offers a comfortable stay for 8 people. There are three bedrooms, two bathrooms and a kitchen spread over a single level. The windows in each room ensure that the idyllic view of the snow-capped mountains can always be admired. Designer furniture gives the warm interior a contemporary twist. Outside, the lodge features both on the front and back, a spacious terrace. At the front, you can enjoy stunning mountain views around a fire pit. The rear terrace is covered and features an outdoor fireplace, heat lamp, seating area, table and chairs. This makes it the perfect place to spend time no matter the weather. Furthermore, the lodge offers a range of experiences both adventurous and restful due to the luxury facilities such as the private sauna, easy access to ski slopes and lakes, and availability of sports equipment at the lodge.
Hjemmbu is located in the Hallingdal region, one of the most visited tourist destinations in Norway. The scenery is unparalleled, with striking Norwegian fjords, waterfalls, lakes, mountains and glaciers nearby. During the winter months it is a true paradise for all ski & cross-country ski lovers, with the lodge located in the middle of the main ski resorts of Hemsedal and Geilo. Furthermore, you can hike, raft, mountain bike, fish, and much more in nature here. The range of activities on offer is enormous. Hjemmebu is therefore the ideal destination for an active outdoor vacation!

Hjemmebu is located on the Torpoasen plateau, near the village of Torpo in the Hallingdal region. It is an area known for its topography and nature parks, and the snow-capped peaks are a sight to behold. It is also one of the most popular places in Norway for adventure and outdoor activities.
Relaxed fishing or canoeing is possible in the two Oknevatni lakes (a 5-minute walk) behind the lodge. In summer, a smaller lake closer to the lodge is ideal for an energetic swim or a day of splashing in the cool water with friends and family.
Skiing and cross-country skiing are popular activities in Hallingdal. You will find hundreds of perfectly drawn cross-country ski trails. If you want to hit the slopes, head to Hemsedal (50 km) or Geilo (46 km) for the best experiences with expert and beginner slopes.
Mountain biking and cycling are also common in the area, and some mountain slopes offer the perfect terrain for a little adrenaline rush. The mountain slopes in the village of Opheim (7 km) are ideal for this.
If you are looking for culture, you can visit the two churches of Torpo (10 km), one old and one new. The oldest church is an all-wood building from the 12th century, and is a popular attraction in the region because of its craftsmanship and the fact that it has stood the test of time.
For your daily needs, the largest town nearby is Gol (25 km), which is a 30-minute drive away. The main street - Sentrumsvegen - is the center, and here you will find supermarkets, a bakery and sporting goods. Al (25 km) is a slightly larger village in the area, where you can enjoy many community and cultural events during the summer.
The nearest airport is Oslo International Airport (200 km), a 3-hour drive through the scenic nature of Norway.
