This maison de charme, Locanda al Colle, bears more resemblance to a home instead of another typical hotel in Tuscany. There are only 12 suites and rooms and guests receive a key to the house. There is no reception or bar, but guests are free to help themselves to a drink from the refrigerator in the kitchen.
Together with chef Gian Luca the owners Riccardo and Arianne cook for their guests three times a week. The meals are enjoyed together under the pergola with a view of the green hills and the ocean in the distance. Every morning, a delicious, lavish breakfast is served, consisting of fresh, home made local products.
The interior design of Locanda al Colle is eclectic; a mix of the '30ties, '40ties and '50ties in the setting of a lovely old Tuscan villa. Stone floors and heavy chestnut beams everywhere you look and beautiful art by varying young, contemporary artists from Riccardo's private collection adorning the walls. Every room is unique, all of the rooms being comfortably furnished and offering a beautiful view.
Locanda al Colle lies close to the beaches of Forte dei Marmi and Viareggio. During the period from May to September a beach club service is included. This means that the owners can make reservations for a spot at the lovely beach club Il Cavallone, which is located at a distance of only 5 km from the house (included in the price). Each spot has a gazebo with sunbeds, sunloungers and beach towels.
All accommodations in our unique collection meet our high standards in quality, comfort, style and setting. We visit every place, meet the owners and explore the area, so we are sure that you will have a great holiday here!

At the cross roads of the famous Via Francigena with its historic trails and the sea, in a hill between the villages Pietrasanta and Camaiore, you will find Locanda al Colle. This country hideaway is tucked into the foothills of the Apuan Alps. As the name suggests, the old stone house is set in woodland but it also enjoys panoramic views down to the coast towards the resort of Versilia.
Our favorites in the area:
Drive the scenic hill route that leads to Lucca.
Pietrasanta is a hub of artistic industry: visit one of the studios (the owners can arrange a guided tour) and look out for exhibitions in the centre of Piazza del Duomo and the church of Sant’Agostino. Also a lovely place to have an aperitivo and dinner.
Admire the locals at Forte dei Marmi and indulge in some high-end shopping in the boutiques.
Take a boat trip up the coast to Cinque Terre
Pose on the sand at Il Cavallone beach club (service included in the Locanda al Colle rates)
Hike in the hills of Parco Alpi Apuane.
Have lunch on the island in front of Portovenere. You can go by speedboat from Viareggio
