Discover the island with special nature and nice walking and cycling routes. The four quiet villages – Buren, Nes, Ballum and Hollum – are less developed than those on Terschelling or Texel, but offer sufficient facilities for most people. All in all, Ameland is an idyll that is true.
All accommodations in our unique collection meet our high standards in quality, comfort, style and setting. We visit every place, meet the owners and explore the area, so we are sure that you will have a great holiday here!

One of our favorite places in the Low Netherlands? Those are the Wadden Islands. You can easily take the ferry and get into the holiday feeling. Nothing is better. Especially in the spring and autumn when the space of the Wadden is even more spacious and we can really recharge (and leave things alone, that too). And when the temperatures are usually wonderfully mild. A subtle breeze (winter is coming, but not yet) or the first oh-so-warm sunbeams on that beautiful spring day. The salty taste of the North Sea in your mouth, beautiful (empty) wide beaches, delicious food.
Only 8 km from the Frisian mainland, Ameland is a quick ferry ride, and some even choose to walk it, but this can only be done with a trained guide. Its history is perhaps the strangest of the four islands: it was an independent 'lordship' for nearly three centuries until the ruling family died in 1708. It actually consists of three islands that amalgamated in the 19th century.
